| Berliner Glas manufactures structured, thin glass plates made of soda-lime glass for encapsulating organic displays. The plates are produced according to customer specifications with a maximum width of 420 mm. The products offer the following advantages compared to the use of metal caps, for instance: Multiple-use processing, eliminating the need for pick & place processes for individual caps Possible use of UV-hardening adhesive systems for joining the display substrate and the encapsulation glass Division of the glued, multiple-use products into single pieces by cutting/breaking The same thermal coefficient of linear expansion for the display substrate and the encapsulation glass The encapsulation glass is highly impermeable to steam and oxygen A great amount of freedom for designing the cavities; non-uniform depths can also be produced Integration of defined, open areas (openings), e.g. for electrical contact creation Cavities: Tight form and position tolerances for the cavities Registration marks for finding a position on the display substrate can be integrated A high planity of the plates offers the best possible prerequisites for a very thin adhesive joint (≤ 10μ) Berliner Glas is offering an economical and industrially useful encapsulation approach with important benefits for the customer with this product for the OLED industry. |
